Borrow

You can borrow physical items available at the library in two ways

  • When you are on-campus, search the library website to see if there is a physical copy available and get it from the shelf. There are shelf marks to guide you to pick up the book from the shelves.
  • When you are off-campus, search the library website and place a hold for the book you would like to borrow. Collect the book within 3 working days, otherwise the hold gets canceled automatically.
  • Borrowers are responsible for all items issued to their Library account. Any damage found on or before borrowing should be reported immediately to the library staff. This responsibility ends when the item is returned.
  • No library materials may be borrowed on behalf of another user without a written request by the user in whose name the item is to be borrowed.
  • Materials confined as reference or core texts are not to be released from the library except under permission of the Head of Department.

*Course Reserve Collection
Materials in this collection are generally for library use only. The University Librarian may permit borrowing upon special request with limited time.

Renew

  • Borrowers are notified through a system-generated email to their university email account. It is the responsibility of the borrower to renew their items on loan when they receive such notices. You can renew the books by logging in to my library account if you wish to extend the borrowing period.

  • Items on loan can be renewed online for 5 times unless no other borrower has submitted a request.  Failure to renew or return items will result in the user’s Library account being blocked. Users should then report immediately to the library staff by email, chat, phone or personal visit to the library.

Return

  • Users must return the item(s) on the expiry of their borrowing limit at the library circulation counter.

Recall

  • All regular loan materials are subject to recall at any time if another library user needs them. If an item you've checked out is recalled, we'll notify you via email and the book has to be returned immediately.

Overdue & fines

  • An overdue charge of AED 2 per day per book will be billed if the item is not renewed or returned on time. A 5% VAT charge will be added to your bill as mandated by the Ministry.
  • Maximum overdue count is set to 5 items. This means that if a patron has 5 items overdue, they will NOT be allowed to borrow any library materials until the outstanding bill is paid.
  • For lost or damaged items, an additional processing charge of AED 50 will be billed in addition to the current cost of the item(s). Please report lost items to the circulation desk as soon as possible to avoid accruing overdue fines.
  • Students must return all materials and pay outstanding fines and charges before their account is cleared.

Note: All the charges should to paid to the accounts department
