Module Description: This is an introductory module that introduces students to the legal systems and the main branches of law. Furthermore, it provides a general introduction on the theory of legal right, the sources of law, including mandatory and supplementary rules, the types of legal rules and rights and the time when newly enacted laws are put into forces. It discusses, among other things, private and public law as well as some international law. It explains and discusses the relevant main topics under both UAE law and English law (to the extent applicable in the UAE).
The module coordinator will provide students with mandatory texts prepared purposefully for this particular module.
